Kinematic Error Modeling of CNC Machines, Javad Rokhsat, 2005

Abstract:

In recent years machine tool accuracy enhancement has been recognized due to increasing of demand for decrease the "tolerance of manufacturing parts. Recently in regard to progress of science and capability for manufacturing high precision sensors and computer technology, it is possible to model the geometrical errors of such machines and also to compensate these errors by using software techniques. In this research the "Homogenous Transformation Matrix (HTM)" technique is used for modeling moving components of machine tool and then for estimation parametric error model. A CNC milling machine "FP4MA-Deckel" is used for practical application of proposed error model and estimation of unknown parameters. For this, propose a measurement device which is similar to Ball -Bar system has been developed to measure error samples of the mentioned machine and import these data to a Pc computer for analysis. Error compensation procedure is carried before entering positional commands to the machine controller and the path coordinate is modified in post processor state by using error model. In this manner tool path errors that are predicted by the model could be compensated properly.
